Spring Break in South Beach, Miami

Life |

Last year during spring break, my husband and I finally got to take our Miami vacation that was supposed to happen in 2020 but was canceled due to the pandemic. So let me tell you, we were VERY ready for a vacation! A whole year later & I finally got the chance to take some time and relive our vacation by putting this blog post together to share with all of you! Read all about how we spent five fabulous days in sunny South Beach, Miami!

Our escape was to an adorable Airbnb located on 3rd and Ocean Drive in South Beach Miami, Florida. The location of our home for the week was absolutely amazing. It was so close to shops, bars & restaurants, great nightlife, art, and of course, THE BEACH! The ocean was right in our backyard which has pretty much become a requirement for every vacation I book!

Day One | Ocean Drive + Wynwood

When we arrived in Miami, it was just around check-in time for our Airbnb. After we got all settled in and purchased some groceries for the week, we met up with some family who happened to be in Miami Beach. We headed to Wynwood for some late-night tacos & fun! We had dinner at an upbeat taqueria & nightclub called, La Tiendita. The drinks + food and music were the best way to start our first night in Miami!

Day Two | Washington Ave + Esteban’s Beach

Our second day in Miami started off ubering to Washington Avenue for breakfast. We had delicious egg sandwiches & fresh-squeezed orange juice at a joint called Simple Eggstaurant. We chatted with others who were also enjoying vacation in Miami and then headed for a stroll on Espanola Way. This quickly became one of our favorite spots in Miami. There are all different types of cute cafes, restaurants, and decor for photo ops. It’s delightful during the day & super hip and trendy at night. Celebrities love to hit up Espanola Way!

After a late breakfast, we headed back to our Airbnb & then straight to the beach. We enjoyed some drinks and hung out on the beach for the rest of the day! I spent a lot of time collecting more seashells, relaxing, & working on my tan.

Day Three | Lolo’s + ARTECHOUSE

Our third day started with a morning walk on the beach. I love seeing the ocean bright and early when the sun peeks through the clouds and dances on the water. We walked along the beach collecting more shells and soaking in all the scenery. After a lovely morning, we headed off for taco Tuesdays at Lolo’s for lunch. The Lolo’s loaded fries were soooo delicious & the birria tacos were super tasty as well! This little surf catina is a must for a midday snack & a refreshing piña colada!

After lunch, we relaxed on the beach until we headed to the main attraction for the night: Artechhouse. We were there to see an exhibit called Aqueous which featured the color classic blue. The exhibit featured interactive art that was designed by artists, scientists, and technologists. It was probably one of the best experiences I have ever had! I highly suggest going if you happen to be in South Beach!

Day Four | Cuban Breakfast + Clevelander

We started off day four at a little Cuban cafe for breakfast. We enjoyed Cuban coffee, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and egg croissants. We decided we were going to walk along ocean drive to take pictures, check out the art deco hotels, and find a fun place for some drinks. I loved photographing all the palm trees swaying in the wind and soaking up all the Florida sun. Before we knew it we were at the entrance of the Clevelander.

The Clevelander was a huge vibe. It has the cutest outdoor seating, a pool, and the best drinks. We spent our afternoon enjoying each other’s company, taking plenty of pictures, and splashing around in the pool. We had a day party with the place nearly all to ourselves!

Day Five | Morning Meditation + Evening Stroll + Havana 1957 Cafe

On our last full day in South Beach, we woke up early and spent the morning on the beach. We soaked up the sun and all the positive vibes by meditating and writing in our journals. We did a lot of reflecting on how amazing our vacation had been so far & just enjoyed being by each other’s side.

After a peaceful morning, we headed for one last stroll down Ocean Drive before dinner. We had a mini photoshoot along the way while we were all dressed up for the night.

Our last stop for the night was Havana 1957 Cafe. We absolutely loved every moment we spent at this restaurant. The staff was so friendly and nice. We chatted over the most delicious mojitos with the bartender while we waited for our seats. The traditional Cuban cuisine was the highlight of the night. We enjoyed sopa de pollo, camarones al ajillo, sweet plantains, and the best aguacate salad I’ve ever had in my life! We stayed at this restaurant for almost three hours enjoying all the best vibes of the Espanola nightlife.

So Long, South Beach!

Our vacation in South Beach Miami was one for the books. I had a hard time accepting that we had to go back to a snowy April Wisconsin day back home. But the memories we created are something I will hold onto forever! I cannot wait until we head back to South Beach for another oceanside vacation. Thank you for checking out my travels to South Beach!
